Battle The Beanstream Bounty Snake

February brings us the annual Battle Snake event at UVic where students compete to create the smartest (or luckiest!) artificially intelligent (AI) snake software. This year Beanstream is proud to sponsor one of the bounty snakes: a tough-as-nails artificially intelligent snake created by Beanstream’s developers.

BattleSnake is a programming competition held in Victoria, BC by our good friends SendWithUs. Teams of students and developers build web-based AIs for the classic arcade game “Snake”. Multiple teams compete on the same board at the same time and the winner is the last team slithering!

There are over $2,500 in prizes given away throughout the day across two tournament brackets. The Beginner Bracket will feature basic gameplay mechanics and have a grand prize of $300. The new Advanced Bracket will offer new gameplay mechanics and a $1,000 grand prize.

BattleSnake is for students and developers of all skill levels. Participants include students from the University of Victoria, Camosun College, Royal Roads University, Vancouver Island University, as well as development teams who want to test their AI programming skills.

If you want to sign up or looking for further information, head on over to, BattleSnake. We would love to see you there!
